General Audio Questions
What is an MP3 file? How do listen to MP3 streams?
MP3 is a widely popular audio format that is supported by a number of internet audio players, including iTunes, VLC, Real Audio Player, Windows Media Player and dozens of others.
What do I need to listen to live streams?
In addition to a computer with a sound card and speakers or headphones, you need an Internet connection (dial-up modem, DSL, cable modem or local area network) and audio player software. One player that can help you experience KUNV online is VLC. You can download VLC from this website.
Why does the sound cut out or skip?
While there can be several reasons for this ranging from a general internet slowdown to problems with your Internet Service Provider, often this is caused by data not arriving fast enough to your computer to keep the sound flowing. Nearly all computer audio players have an option to increase the "buffer" size of data. The buffer determines how much data (audio) must arrive before the sound starts playing. If you are getting skips and your buffer is set to a low or medium setting, try increasing the buffer size. In most cases that will great improve or solve the problem.
